WWI Centenary Event - trip to Beamish October 2018

On Thursday 2nd October, Years 1 - 4 went on a trip to Beamish Museum. This was kindly funded by the organisers of the Stannington WWI Centenary Festival of Remembrance.

Years one and two took part in an activity called 'A parcel from home' and had to go shopping in the town to buy useful items to send to a soldier serving on the front line. Years three and four took part in an activity called 'The life of a soldier' and discovered lots of amazing facts about soldier life during WWI.

Everyone also went to the school house for a 1914 style school lesson including playtime with some toys and games from that era. We all wore period costumes and enjoyed travelling by tram.

It was a fantastic day!
