Early Years WWI Cookery Event

Home Front Food!

On Tuesday October 2nd, 2018 our Early Years children held their own WWI inspired event.

In class, they worked together to make bunting and decorate colourful poppy print table cloths to decorate the school hall.

Outside, they collected apples from the school tree before peeling and chopping the fruit and vegetables and cooking their own WWI themed lunch of chicken stew with homemade bread and apple pie.

When it was ready, everyone enjoyed the meal. They all thought the lunch was delicious, even Bluebell Bear!

All of our Early Years children were also given a knitted teddy, kindly provided by Mrs Doreen Worswick, who lives in the village. These bears were knitted using a traditional pattern and were donated to the school as part of the Centenary Event.
